When does Kurban Bayram begin in a year. Rules for offering sacrifices on Eid al-Adha

As in previous years, in 2015 Muslims will celebrate Kurban Bayran according to old traditions for three to four days. Kurban Bayram is translated as "the holiday of sacrifice." Muslims celebrate it seventy days after Uraza Bayram (the holiday of breaking the fast).
Kurban Bayram - what kind of holiday is this? Why do the followers of Islam sacrifice sheep, goats and cows; treat friends and neighbors; singing songs? This holiday has been known since ancient times. AT Holy Quran It is described how the Archangel Jabrail appeared in a dream to the prophet Ibrahim and ordered to bring his son to the sacrificial altar. Ibrahim and his son revered Allah very much; they were ready to unquestioningly fulfill the will of the Almighty. And only at the time of the sacrifice it turned out that the knife was dull. The prophet could not slaughter his son. For such obedience, Allah gave Ibrahim a lamb, which they sacrificed to him. So the prophet accomplished a feat that remained in the memory of numerous generations of Muslims. Later, the holy city of Mecca was built on this site. For many years, on the days of the celebration of Eid al-Adha, Muslims come to the Mina Valley and sacrifice animals.

But not any of the sacrificial Lambs is suitable for sacrifice. For obvious reasons, it is forbidden to sacrifice sick or infirm animals. After the ceremony, meat and skin are distributed to poor Muslims in order to please their hearts and receive the blessings of Allah.

When will Kurban Bayran be in 2015

What date will Kurban Bayram be in 2015? According to Muslim (Islamic) lunar calendar The Hijri holiday is celebrated in the first half of the twelfth month. This year it falls on September 23-24.

The celebration takes place in the morning. After performing the obligatory ablution ceremony, Muslims put on a specially prepared new clothes and go to the mosque to read morning prayer(prayer). Listen to the sermons of the Mula. In addition, according to long-standing traditions, during the holiday it is supposed to come to the graves of deceased relatives. On such days it is forbidden to drink alcohol, this is a great sin for Muslims.

The celebration of Kurban Bayram is very important for the Islamic people. He preaches loyalty and worship to Allah, humility with fate and hope for a brighter future. Everyone prays for his own, opening a piece of his soul to the Almighty. Someone asks for help in further business or for the prosperity of the business. The sick - about the cure of the disease, the poor - about prosperity. It is believed that it is at this time that Allah is favorable to help those who believe in him.

All about religion and faith - "Kurban Bayram 2015 holiday prayer" with detailed description and photographs.

If possible, it is obligatory to attend the holiday prayer in the mosque. Eid prayer is performed after sunrise. According to the Sunnah, there are desirable things that must be done in the morning before holiday prayer:

Wear your best clothes.

Use incense (perfume).

Use a miswak (toothbrush stick).

Nothing to eat before Eid al-Adha

Unlike Friday prayer(Juma), which is not considered valid without reciting a khutba (a two-part sermon that is pronounced before prayer), the khutba during holiday prayers is read after prayer, so it does not apply to the conditions for the validity of prayer. Without a khutbah, eid prayer (eid prayer) will be valid, but this is undesirable, just as undesirable as reading a khutbah before the holiday prayer.

Sacrifice (kurban) - cutting an animal (sheep, goat, cow or camel) for the sake of the Almighty Creator on the 10th day of the month of Zul-Hijjah (that is, on the holiday “'id al-adha” or otherwise “Kurban Bayram”) and the following three days. This is one of the types of worship established by the Lord of the worlds through His prophets. This is the Sunnah of our forefather - the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him. And the sunnah of our prophet - the Messenger of Allah - Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Speaking about the animals slaughtered for His sake, the Creator says in the Qur'an: “Neither their blood nor their meat reaches Allah. But your God-fearing comes.” The Almighty does not need shed blood and does not need meat. However, just as it does not need anything else, the essence of this rite is submission to the Creator by slaughtering the cattle given by Him and then distributing part of the meat to those in need and donating part of it to neighbors and relatives. It is this desire to achieve the favor of Allah and show obedience to Him, the readiness to part for His sake with property and something beloved for the soul, humility before Him - this, and this is what, brings a person closer to the Creator.

When we perform Kurban, we remember the story of our forefather Ibrahim (Abraham), which marked the beginning of this charitable deed. This story is an example for all of us of how to respond to the call of the Creator, how to follow His commands. The Almighty does not lay on us what he laid on Ibrahim. The merciful Creator does not order any of us to put our child on our forehead for slaughter. He only commands us to lower our foreheads in bows, praying to Him during prayers; give cleansing alms - zakat; to fast - to observe the fast in the month of Ramadan; perform Hajj and commands us to do other pious deeds, not because he needs them, but because he wants to save us through these deeds and give us a great reward.

 Sheep - from 1 year. 6 monthly periods are allowed, with a strong consistency, similar to one-year-olds.

 Goats - at least 1 year old. An age of less than a year is not desirable, as it is believed from the practice of animal husbandry that animals reach full consistency only by 1 year.

 Cows (bulls) - at least 2 years

 Camels - at least 4 years. Everything else cannot be kurban. And there can be neither chickens, nor horses, nor any other animals.

A prerequisite for all types of sacrificial animals is their external usefulness. Therefore, animals that have obvious defects are not allowed: broken or deliberately cut off horns, ears and tails. Also, lame, blind, flabby, frail, obviously sick animals are not allowed. Females close to the time of birth are undesirable. A sacrifice from among small ruminants is made from one person. As for cattle, it can be made from seven people.

Dear brothers and sisters, do not forget that Qurbani cannot be performed until the end of the Eid prayer. If an animal is slaughtered earlier, then it will not be considered qurbani, but will simply be meat slaughtered to feed the family. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a festive prayer, then delivered a festive sermon (khutba) and only then performed a kurban, as reported in the "Sahih" of Imam al-Bukhari.

When cutting an animal, it is necessary to say: “Bismi-Llah! Wa-Llahu Akbar!”. It means: “In the name of Allah! Allah is the greatest!” You can't torture an animal! It is necessary to slaughter it easily and quickly, having previously sharpened the knife in the best possible way. Moreover, it is impossible to sharpen the knife in front of the animal, as this frightens him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When any of you slaughter cattle, let him do it in the best way. Let him sharpen his knife and seek to ease the death of the animal.”

A person eats the meat of a sacrificial animal himself and treats the poor, neighbors, relatives to it. Some predecessors divided Kurban meat into 3 parts: they left one part for themselves and their families; the second part was distributed to the poor; and the third part was treated to neighbors and relatives. None of the parts of a slaughtered animal, including the skin of an animal, may be given as payment to the butcher! A person who intends to perform Kurban - he cannot cut his nails and hair and remove anything from his hair or skin from the 1st day of the month of Zul Hijjah. Why is this ban imposed? It is a kind of opportunity for people who are not in the Hajj to feel a sense of community with the pilgrims who are in Mecca at this time, and who are known to be in a state of ihram, it is forbidden to cut their hair and nails.

Kurban can be performed within 4 days, more precisely, from the end of the holiday prayer until sunset on the 4th day of the holidays, that is, the 13th Zul Hijj.

The festive prayer on Eid al-Adha, the first day of which in 2015 fell on September 24, will be held at 39 venues in Moscow and the Moscow region.

The festive prayer on Eid al-Adha, the first day of which in 2015 fell on September 24, will be held at 39 venues in Moscow and the Moscow region from 7 to 10 in the morning, depending on the place.

Eid al-Adha is one of the two main Muslim holidays. On this day, Muslims who have a material opportunity sacrifice a ram or a cow. It is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Zulhija, exactly 70 days after the end of the 30-day fast in the month of Ramadan. The Feast of Sacrifice lasts three days.

In the capital, in addition to three mosques, two additional sites will be opened on this day at the following addresses: Yuzhnoye Butovo district, st. Yuzhnobutovskaya, 96 (metro station "Buninskaya Alley", next to the recreational complex "Izumrudny") and the Southern River Station, Projected passage No. 4062, 11, bldg. 2 (metro station "Kolomenskaya"). On the first platform, the prayer will begin at 07:00, and on the second - at 06:30.

Later than all in Moscow, the festive prayer will begin at the Historical Mosque (metro station Novokuznetskaya, Tretyakovskaya, Bolshaya Tatarskaya st., 28, building 1) - from 09:00 to 10:00. In the memorial mosque "Shahada" on Poklonnaya Gora (Minskaya st., 2b), the beginning of the festive prayer is scheduled for 07:00-08:00.

By tradition, most of the parishioners come to the Cathedral Mosque (metro station "Prospect Mira", Vypolzov per., 7), the doors of the prayer hall of which this year will open at four o'clock in the morning, and collective prayer will be held from 07:00 to 08:00. Despite the fact that after the reconstruction the area of this mosque has expanded significantly, it is not able to accommodate everyone and therefore most of the Muslims will settle down on the streets adjacent to it. In this regard, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia (DUM RF) asks parishioners to use other nearby metro stations on this day, as repair work is underway on the Prospekt Mira ring line, and after prayer, be patient.

“At the end of the holiday prayer, please observe “Sabr” - calmness! To the metro station, please go quietly, following the signs. Obey the instructions of the police and volunteers. When entering the subway and boarding the carriages, show respect to the elders and be attentive to women and children, ”the Russian Spiritual Administration calls for.

Every year, more than 100,000 Muslims take part in the festive events in honor of Kurban Bayram in the capital.

Festive prayer in the Moscow region will be held at 34 sites, which are located in almost all areas of the region (see the list below).

The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Moscow Region expects up to 80 thousand parishioners on this day, including at the expense of residents of the capital.

“According to our forecasts, about 70-80 thousand of our co-religionists will take part in the Eid al-Adha holiday in the Moscow region,” said Rushan Khazrat Abbyasov, deputy chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia.

One of the main rites of this holiday is a sacrifice (“Kurban” is translated from Arabic as such).

According to the Koran, the angel Jabrail appeared to the prophet Ibrahim in a dream and gave him a command from Allah to sacrifice his first-born Ismail. Ibrahim went to the valley of Mina to the place where Mecca now stands, and began preparations. However, this turned out to be a test from Allah, and when the sacrifice was almost made, Allah replaced for Ibrahim the sacrifice of a son with a sacrifice of a lamb (lamb).

Since then, paying tribute to the feat of the prophet Ibrahim, who showed the highest degree of righteousness and love for Allah, Muslims slaughter a sacrificial animal as a rite of worship to the Lord.

Slaughtering animals on the streets of Moscow is prohibited, and traffic police officers on this day can check vehicles for the presence of animals brought into the capital for sacrifice. For these purposes, the Spiritual Muslim Board of the Russian Federation organized 15 sites on the territory of the Moscow Region, where it will be possible to conduct a sacrificial ceremony (see the list below).

History and traditions of the Islamic holiday of sacrifice Eid al-Adha

Is it possible to replace a sacrificial ram with a cow and what are "takbir" and "khutba"

Festive prayer during Eid al-Adha at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque in 2015

On September 1, 2017, Muslims will celebrate one of the main Islamic holidays Kurban Bayram (Arabic name - Eid al-Adha) or the feast of sacrifice, dedicated to the end of the Hajj - the pilgrimage to Mecca. TASS tells how to find out the date of the holiday and what traditions are associated with it.

Hajj is one of the main duties of a Muslim, guaranteeing him the remission of sins and the achievement, according to beliefs, of eternal bliss in afterlife. Every true believer, according to Islamic doctrine, is obliged to perform the Hajj at least once in his life. After that, he has the right to be called "haji" - this is an honorable and respected appeal to a Muslim.

The holiday is based on a plot from the Koran, similar to the biblical one - the angel Jabrail (archangel Gabriel) appeared to the prophet Ibrahim ( biblical Abraham) in a dream and conveyed to him the command of Allah to sacrifice his first-born Ismail. The father and son went to what is now Mecca to make a sacrifice.

Convinced that Ibrahim passed the test, Allah sent him a lamb, which they sacrificed to the Almighty.

Muslims today perform this kind of sacrifice, whether they are in Mecca or not.

Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Zul-Hijja, the 12th month of the Muslim lunar calendar. Due to differences in the Gregorian and Muslim calendars, the date of celebration is shifted back by 11 days every year. This year it falls on September 1st.

The holiday lasts three days, which are non-working days in most Muslim countries. You can make a sacrifice in any of them.

On the day preceding Eid al-Adha (the Day of Arafat), it is customary to fast.

The celebration begins at sunrise. Muslims perform a full bath, put on new clothes and head to the mosque for morning prayers.

At the end of the morning prayer, believers return home, and then gather again in the yards or on the street to sing praises to Allah in chorus (in Arabic "takbir" - approx. TASS). Then the mullah delivers festive sermons (in Arabic "khutba" - approx. TASS), after which Muslims visit cemeteries to pray for the dead at the graves.

Then comes the sacrificial ceremony. By decision of the Spiritual Boards of Muslims in the cities of Russia, special places have been set aside for the slaughter of sacrificial animals. These sites must comply with the rules agreed with the veterinary services.

Much attention is paid to the festive decoration of the table, as well as the preparation of numerous sweets. They try to make gifts to close friends and relatives on the days of the holiday. In the next few days, they usually go to visit relatives, friends and acquaintances.

First of all, it should be noted that, according to Islamic theologians, not only rams, but also camels, buffaloes, bulls or cows, sheep and goats can be sacrificial animals. However, the age of animals going to the slaughter is strictly defined: a ram should be no more than a year old, a cow - two years old, a camel - five years old.

Animals must be bought by believers solely with honestly earned money, without which the sacrifice is not considered accepted by Allah.

One animal is sacrificed from one family. The meat is divided into three parts: one is given to the poor, the second is prepared as a treat for relatives, neighbors, friends, the third is left for believers to their families.

Aslan Mataev, the owner of a sheep farm from Gudermes, tells about the rules for slaughtering a sacrificial animal, who helps local residents to slaughter sheep.

Read more about how to combine sacrifice with love for animals and where is the place for business, read on the website "This is the Caucasus"

Eid al-Adha, as in previous years, in 2015 will be celebrated by Muslims for several days. The holiday will start September 24. And the annual significant Muslim event will end on September 27.

In some online publications, you can find incorrect information: a number of media outlets reported that Eid al-Adha begins on September 23, but this is not entirely true. According to the lunar calendar, you can start celebrating as early as the 23rd after sunset, but the reading of holiday prayers will begin in the early morning of September 24th.

Holiday traditions

The traditions of the Eid al-Adha holiday have developed in the distant past. As the Koran says, once one of the archangels Jabrail came in a dream to the prophet Ibrahim and ordered him to sacrifice his son Ismail. The prophet did not resist the command of the archangel and went to the valley to prepare everything for the sacrifice. Ismail knew what awaited him, but nevertheless went to the valley to his father. As the father and son later realized, Allah thus decided to test them. When Ibrahim swung at Ismail, the knife immediately became dull. Soon the prophet was presented with a ram and the title of "Friend of Allah".

What date does it start in Dagestan

In the Republic of Dagestan, as well as in Chechnya, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia, the celebration of Eid al-Adha is also declared a non-working day.

Eid al-Adha 2015 in Uzbekistan

As in many regions of the Russian Federation, in Uzbekistan, the first day of Eid al-Adha will be a day off. The head of Uzbekistan instructed various public organizations and foundations to hold the celebration of Eid al-Adha at the highest level.

Eid al-Adha 2015: what date does it start in Turkey

The weekend in Turkey on Eid al-Adha will begin on September 23 (afternoon) and end on Sunday the 27th. Sacrificial meat is usually distributed to all those in need by special charitable organizations ("Red Crescent").

The Holy Quran describes how the Archangel Jabrail appeared in a dream to the prophet Ibrahim and ordered to bring his son to the sacrificial altar.

According to the Muslim (Islamic) lunar Hijri calendar, the holiday is celebrated in the first half of the twelfth month. This year it falls on September 23-24.

The celebration takes place in the morning. After the obligatory ablution ceremony, Muslims put on specially prepared new clothes and go to the mosque to read the morning prayer (prayer).

One of the most important holidays in Islam is approaching - Eid al-Adha, or eid al adha(the holiday of sacrifice and the end of the Hajj), which is celebrated 70 days after the holiday of Eid al-Fitr in memory of the sacrifice of the prophet Ibrahima.

When is Kurban Bayram celebrated in 2015?

Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Zul-Hijja, in 2015 this day falls on Thursday, September 24th. In Russia, this day is a working day, but in republics with a predominantly Muslim population, September 24 is declared a day off. Such concessions await residents of Adygea, Bashkortostan, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, Crimea, Tatarstan and the Chechen Republic. In addition, on the eve of September 23, the working day in the Muslim republics will be reduced by one hour (Eid al-Adha celebrations will begin on the evening of September 23).

history of the holiday

Eid al-Adha is celebrated in memory of the sacrifice Prophet Ibrahim(in the Bible it is called Abraham). According to legend, the archangel Jabrail (Gabriel) appeared in a dream to the prophet Ibrahim and demanded a terrible sacrifice. The archangel conveyed to the prophet the command of Allah that, as proof of his faith, Ibrahim should sacrifice his eldest son. In Judaism, Isaac (Ishak) is considered the eldest son of Abraham. Muslims believe that the eldest son of Abraham is Ismail, the son of Hagar's concubine. According to Muslim tradition, Ismail is considered the progenitor of the Arabs. The story of the sacrifice of Ismail, as you know, has a good ending. At the last moment, when the sacrificial knife had already been brought over the unfortunate Ismail, Allah had mercy on Ibrahim and replaced his son with a sacrificial ram. In memory of this sacrifice, Muslims in Eid al-Adha slaughter sacrificial animals to prove to Allah their love and willingness to obey the supreme will.

Holiday traditions

The celebration begins on the evening of September 23 and will continue for three days. On this day, it is customary for Muslims to perform a full ablution and put on festive clothes. September 24 in the morning in mosques are holiday services. At the end of them, Muslim men go to the places of sacrificial slaughter of animals (mainly sheep). In Russian cities, the slaughter of animals within the city is prohibited; for this, special sites are being equipped in the suburbs. It is customary to divide the carcass of a sacrificial animal into three parts: one part goes for the poor, a treat is prepared from the second part for guests, relatives, friends and neighbors, the believer can keep the third part. Also on this day, before the start of the festive meal in some Muslim regions, it is customary to visit cemeteries. The traditions of the holiday also include giving gifts to relatives and generous alms to the poor.
