The first dish that the whole family had to eat was pancakes, as a symbol of the Sun. At the same time, it is worth noting that if a woman went on a visit that day, then she had to take pancakes with her. They set the table richly, because then the coming year will also pass. Be sure to have meat, jelly, sausages, pickles and a lot of pancakes with various fillings. The drinks were wine or beer, but in moderation, "for it is sinful." And the last dish was always served with scrambled eggs, hoping for prosperity in the future.
According to tradition, it was necessary to sit down at the table at least seven times, and at the end of the meal, the remnants of food were covered with a white tablecloth, and on top with sheepskin. Thus, our ancestors drove all quarrels out of the house. This food remained exactly until the moment when a fire was made to burn the effigy, where they threw the food. Some of it was still given to animals.

- It was believed that the more you can eat that day, the better you will endure Great Lent.
- As we have already mentioned on this day, there should not have been any food left on the table, but also you cannot immediately clean everything up. It was possible to burn food only after they set the table with the remnants of food with sheepskin and kindle a fire. - Also on this day, children were lightly beaten with consecrated willow branches so that they would be healthy all year and no illness would stick to them.
